Central Idea: The pursuit of pleasure is a source of strife.

 

Purpose: To challenge believers to pursue peace with each other.

1. The pursuit of pleasure produces selfishness (3:2).
2. The pursuit of pleasure produces frustration (4:2).
3. The pursuit of pleasure produces hostility (4:2).
4. The pursuit of pleasure produces poverty (4:2–3).

 

Is the desire for what we want causing us to fight with those we love? In James 4:1-3 we learn that the pursuit of worldly pleasure produces selfishness, frustration, hostility, and poverty. So how can we minimize such conflict in our relationships today?
