A Bible Study on Ephesians

Welcome to Episode 7 of our Ephesians podcast series. In this episode, David Christensen opens Ephesians 1:13–14 to address one of the deepest questions believers wrestle with: Can I really be secure in Christ?

Paul’s answer is clear and comforting. Those who hear the gospel and believe in Christ are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, God’s own guarantee that we belong to Him and that our future inheritance is secure. The Holy Spirit is not merely a promise of what is to come, but a down payment, a foretaste of the riches that await us in Christ.

This passage brings Paul’s great opening sentence (Ephesians 1:3–14) to a triumphant close, reminding believers that salvation is not maintained by performance, feelings, or fear, but by God’s faithfulness. We are signed, sealed, and waiting to be delivered.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • What it means to be sealed with the Holy Spirit
  • How the Spirit guarantees ownership, authenticity, and protection
  • Why hearing and believing the gospel are essential responses of faith
  • How the Holy Spirit is God’s down payment on our future inheritance
  • Why believers can live with confidence, hope, and joy, even in uncertainty

If you struggle with doubts about your salvation, fear being abandoned by God, or feel pressure to “earn” your security, this episode offers profound reassurance. God has put His Spirit within you as His pledge. He is coming back for what is His.
