The Heart of Our Mission
Curious about the meaning behind our name? The Rephidim Project draws inspiration from Exodus 17, where Rephidim represents a place of divine provision and support for the Israelites during their journey. This story reflects our mission: to provide strength and encouragement to those who are weary and to empower the weak, just as God did for His people (Isaiah 35:3).

Founded in 2001 as a ministry of Galilee Church in Gorham, Maine, the Rephidim Project began with a vision to support and uplift missionaries around the world. Pastor David Christensen embarked on the first pastoral journey to Spain and Morocco, followed by trips to Ireland, Russia, and Panama. Our initial focus was on personal visits, preaching, and distributing audio sermons of Pastor Dave’s expository teaching, along with printed books for those in ministry—free of charge.

As the project expanded, it evolved into a dedicated organization. In 2016, we established a subsidiary to enhance our support for pastors and missionaries through personalized teaching and the creation of both print and digital resources. By 2018, we achieved 501(c)(3) status, marking our transition into a fully independent non-profit ministry.

Join us in our mission to support pastors, strengthen communities, and transform lives through the power of God’s Word.
