FROM SONS TO SLAVES??

(Galatians 4:8-11)

Central Idea: We substitute our sonship with slavery when we supplement our relationship with religion.

Purpose: To warn Christians not to live by works.

A relationship with God brings the freedom of sonship (4:8-9a).
A religion of works brings the bondage of slavery (4:9b-11)

Purpose: To teach Christians the proper use of the law.
1. The purpose of the law is to promote sin (3:19-20).
2. The purpose of the law is to imprison sinners (3:21-22).
